Welcome to the Global Health Network's taught online course on Health Research in Vulnerable Groups. 

We are delighted to offer the course as an 8-hour Continuous Professional Development Certificate awarded by the Global Health Network, a department within the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford.

The course will run from Monday, 6th April to Friday, 10th April, and consists of an on-demand, interactive lecture, practical tasks that highlight the challenges when working with vulnerable groups,  an asynchronous forum and a live tutorial.  

To pass the course and receive the certificate, learners must complete the tasks, participate in the forum and attend the tutorial. 

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand the breadth and scope of vulnerable populations, especially in relation to global health research.

  • Discuss the importance of conducting research in vulnerable populations​

  • Describe best practices in Community Engagement​

  • Assess Consent and Assent procedures in vulnerable populations​

Please note, there is no fee to take the course but it will take approximately eight hours to complete and a certificate of completion will only be issued to those who participate as much as possible.
